Bits and pieces
by Bonnie Pockley
Today was a slow start. We sat outside in a fragrant spring garden feeding the twins loquats from the tree while we drank our morning coffee. Lately we’ve had the kids inside with the weather being too hot or, like yesterday, suddenly cold and windy. This is new for them because they’ve got so used to playing in the cubby, exploring every nook and cranny as well as finding patches of dirt to roll around in. Trying to keep them clean is a nightmare and it can drive me crazy with all the laundry but they seem to be having fun and I try to remember that that’s what is important. Inca was also given the sweetest ‘Little Queen’ vintage dress (very appropriate given her middle name is Rein) and the orchards from my birthday finally died after a little over two weeks of looking lovely on our table.
Tomorrow is the Saturday market – which I love and look forward to – but there is also a garden market on a little down the road that Hame is very excited about. I’m not much of a green thumb but I did plant some sweetpeas alongside the cubby and some ground cover verbena only a little while ago and I can’t wait to see them grow.
1. Orchard petals. 2. Inca wears ‘Little Queens’ vintage dress, red tights, vintage sandals and K-Mart cardi. 6. Pax wears vintage bib, Purebaby jumper, thrifted shorts, vintage t-shirt. 9. The toy of the moment – a little creepy but the kids love it. 10. Pax wears Cotton On Kids vest, Cotton On Kids t-shirt, thrifted shorts and sneakers from Hoochie Coochie.
