Long weekend

by Bonnie Pockley

It’s only the start of the long weekend but we’ve already been luxuriating in the extra time we’ve had together as a family. Somehow the week itself felt long and steeped in memory – as if the past cast a shadow through the late afternoon sun and stirred-up a deep, and sometimes lingering, sense of nostalgia. Good times, soft music, long summer days. For me this meant all the more reason to get out and explore. After coffee, of course, we wandered aimlessly through the farmer’s market and gardens of another, bigger town, and found a little bit of bliss (and a pink vintage dress) in the unexpected delight of a slow day, unplanned.
